- Events : Tell what happened, in what sequence.

C. Penjelasan

Recount (Laporan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan masa lampau.)

1. Ciri Umum

a. Tujuan Komunikatif Teks:

Melaporkan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan dengan tujuan memberitakan atau menghibur.

b. Struktur Teks :

- Pengenalan, yaitu memberikan informasi tentang siapa, dimana dan kapan;

- Rekaman peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan yang terjadi, yang biasanya disampaikan dalam uraian kronologis;

- Pengenalan ulang yang merangkum rentetan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan.

c. Isi Kebahasaan

Menggunakan:

- nouns dan pronouns sebagai kata ganti orang, hewan, atau benda yang terlibat, misalnya we, she, he, the donkey, the elephant, dll.

- action verbs atau kerja tindakan, misalnya sleep, walk, run, go, dll.

- past tense, misalnya, He was happy, We went to the zoo, dll.

- conjunctions and time connectives yang mengurutkan peristiwa, kejadian atau kegiatan, misalnya and, but, then, after that, dll.

- adverb dan adverb phrases untuk mengungkap tempat, waktu dan cara, misalnya yesterday, at my school, slowly, dll.

2. Contoh dan Struktur Teks :

Pengenalan (orientation) :

I remember the time when I played badminton with my roommate, Tina. She is very keen on badminton so we played it day and night. That was the time she got so mad at me too.

Rangkaian peristiwa :

It happened when we took a break in cafetaria. I put her racquet in a chair, but then I forgot and left it in the cafetaria. When I went back to get it, it was gone. Tina was furious with me. The racquet was her beloved one.

Penutup (re-orientation):

Tina was angry and upset that she didn't speak to me for three days.
